This is a green-winged Macaw, native to South America, appropriately set against part of a historic scenic wallpaper, Les Incas, by the French manufacturer Dufour et Leroy in 1826. The wallpaper illustrates the work of French historian Jean-François Marmontel, who contributed the the development of the encyclopedia. The pedestal is also French, by André-Charles Boulle and was one of a pair presented to King George V and Queen Mary of England in 1936.
