JAMES LYLE

Based in Bathurst, NSW. James is passionate about painting and its unique ability to get down the wonder of colour and gesture like no other medium. His bold alla prima method of application distills with immediacy what is most vital and potent. He studied painting at the Nepean Arts and Design Centre in Kingswood and later graduated from the painting program at the College of Fine Arts in Sydney receiving scholarships from both the Australian Decorative Fine Arts Society and Ars Musica Australis.

He’s often described as a painter’s painter and sold his grad show piece to London’s street-artist Pure Evil.

James has painted and exhibited regularly over the past 2o years throughout the Central West, Hawkesbury, Western Sydney and the inner suburbs of Sydney and has enjoyed teaching this experience of painting for more than a decade now.
