NEIL TOMKINS


Neil Tomkins (b. 1987) is an award winning Australian artist. Over ten years of painting Tomkins has explored a contemporary approach to landscapes of Australia and beyond. Re-interpreting what he sees before him through symbolic colour and authentic mark making. He was a finalist in the 2020 Archibald Prize awarded by the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Using photography as a platform to explore landscape he often breaks down the subject matter into fragments and then rebuilds it through collage before progressing to a completed painting.

Neil has also been involved in various artists residencies and studio programs in Portugal, Peru, South America, Mexico & Tasmania. His work is currently held in private collections throughout Australia, South America, Mongolia, Mexico and New York.
