Tania Joscelyne
Tania Joscelyne is a Blue Mountains-based artist whose meticulous drawings celebrate the character, history, and beauty of the built environment. Her enduring love of architecture finds expression in urban landscapes, combining careful observation with bold colour and distinctive artistic licence.
Now in her eighties, Tania brings a lifetime of experience and curiosity to her art. Art and architecture were early passions, but at the urging of her parents she pursued a rewarding career in computer science, where creativity and attention to detail became important qualities in her later art practice.
After moving from Sydney to the Blue Mountains, Tania began pursuing art in earnest, studying art at Nepean TAFE and developing her distinctive approach to drawing. Working primarily from her own photographs, she is drawn to the character of buildings and streetscapes, as well as the stories and history behind them. Her work remains faithful to the architecture while allowing room for imagination - enhancing colour, repairing damage and landscaping neglected gardens to create her own interpretation of each urban environment.
