Katherine Edney lives and works in Sydney. She holds a Master of Fine Arts by Research (Painting) from COFA, UNSW (2008) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours Class 1 (2004).

Edney has been a multi-time finalist in the Archibald Prize (2020, 2019), Salon des
Refuses (2024, 2022, 2021), Portia Geach Memorial Award (2020, 2014, 2012),
Ravenswood Women’s Art Prize (2019, 2018), Brett Whiteley Travelling Art
Scholarship (2012, 2011) and STILL: National Still Life Award (2021), and NEAP
National Emerging Art Prize 2024, among others.

She recently won the painting award at the Hornsby Art Prize for her work ‘I want to lie in the clouds with you’.
