These days you don't need thousands of dollars to adorn your walls with beautiful works of art. With plenty of places offering affordable original works and prints, some of which can be downloaded straight to your computer and printed and framed yourself, there are endless options for buyers with a tight budget.

Remember, the term 'art' is not restricted to original (and expensive) oil-paintings that you'd only find hanging in a gallery. Photography, graphic design, prints, sculptures and ceramics are all forms of art so, if you're not a fan of whimsical watercolour works, there are plenty of other styles that might appeal to you.

To get your art collection off to a shining start without breaking the bank, we asked some gallerists exhibiting at the upcoming Affordable Art Fair Sydney (2-5 June 2022) to share their tips on starting an art collection on a budget because let's face it, we can't all afford to have an original Picasso hanging on our wall.
