From the Artist...
White storks were seen everywhere on my visit to Morocco and their enormous nests of sticks appear to be tolerated wherever they appear, whether it be on on a mosque minaret, power pole or leather ottoman. Storks are considered good luck.

The background here is drawn from a part of the El Dorado scenic wallpaper (1915–25), designed by Eugène Ehrmann, Joseph Fuchs and Georges Zipélius for Zuber. The name of the painting means “father of Saʿid / lucky one”, reflecting the stork’s association with good fortune and blessing.
